Contact Us Jobs Store Search AST Cancels Conference Due to COVID-19 After watching COVID-19 transform and inundate the country over the last month, the AST Board of Directors has decided to cancel its 51 st Surgical Technology Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, from May 28-30. As a healthcare organization that supports surgical technologists and surgical assistants, we recognize the importance of staying safe. We have heard from many of you who have been placed on travel restrictions, are unable to leave your communities, placed on furlough or are committed to serving on the front lines. We understand the financial obligations that it takes to attend our event and AST will be refunding all registration fees. Full refunds will be processed by May 1 st to the original form of payment. Read more AST & the NBSTSA Partner to Waive Certification Renewal Fees AST recognizes the physical, emotional and financial hardships surgical technologists and surgical assistants are facing during the COVID-19 crisis. CSTs and CSFAs are performing surgical procedures on potentially infectious patients, serving on the front lines as PPE specialists, conducting COVID testing, and being assigned jobs outside their normal duties. Despite the hardships, maintaining the CST and CSFA credential is important, which is why AST has partnered with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) to jointly underwrite the $25 renewal fee for all CSTs and CSFAs whose certification renewal dates fall between March 15 and December 31, 2020.* Click for requirements and more information AST Headquarter Staff to Work Remote Beginning Thursday, March 19, AST staff will begin working remotely as we heed public health recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
